Missing Auntie Heidi

When Heidi and Jeff lived in Germany my kids would see pictures of them. One day Luke asked me, "Mom, where is Auntie Heidi? Did she die?" I was, of course, taken back and replied the obvious, "No, but she lives far away." Ana then asked if we could go visit her to which I said, "No Sweety, she lives very far away." Ana, in her infinite four year old wisdom, said, "Well, we could walk." I had to explain that our legs would get very tired if we tried to walk . Ana thought for a minute and said, "We could drive in our car." I then had to explain that cars cannot drive on water and we would have to cross an ocean to reach Auntie Heidi. Totally annoyed by that time and in her most matter-of-fact tone, Ana stated, "Well then, we will swim!"

I'm so glad we don't have to swim to see you next week!

Star Wars to a 6 Year Old

Luke loves the old Star Wars movies. He has a Star Wars Xbox game where all the characters are made out of Legos. It's pretty entertaining to watch him talk to them while he's playing. Anyways, the other day he address Jared and I as "Queen Mommydala" and "Darth Dadder." Atleast I get to be a good guy! :)

Oh, Waiter!!!

Yesterday morning Olivia finished her bowl of "manas and cheeooos" (bananas and cheerios-for those who don't speak her language) and held her little blue dish in the air saying in her most demanding, yet dignified, voice, "Mommy, take it away!" When I didn't comply immediately she turned her bowl upside down over her sippy cup and began singing into it, "No more dinna. Dinna alllll gone! Take it away!" This little girl speaks much too well for her age!

We Love Uncle Jerm!

Jeremy, Jade, Jayna, and baby Jack came over for dinner this weekend. It was great to see them! It's so pathetic that we live in the same city (granted on complete opposite sides) but we rarely see each other. Miss Jayna is as beautiful as a china doll. She gives great hugs! Jackson is so big...and wouldn't you know it...he's got his daddy's eyelashes! Lucky kid!
The four older kids had a great time chasing each other around and Jack really seemed to enjoy rolling into his mommy's plate of potatoes.
Uncle Jerm is definitely a favorite with my kids. Why wouldn't he be? He's a human helicopter and climbing wall!
I love you little brother!

Just Another Day In Paradise!

Today has been one for the books and it's not even half over! I went to bed with a migraine and thus woke up with a "headache hangover".
*4 AM - Ana screams that she's out of toilet paper
*4:30 AM - computer downstairs begins running loudly and making wacky noises (we expect the silly thing to go up in smoke any day now...literally)
*5 AM - Jared's alarm goes off to wake him up for his glamorous early morning seminary calling
*6 AM - Luke wakes up to puke his poor little insides out
*7 Am - Starving pregnant lady craves homemade applesauce muffins and all the eggs (pushed carelessly to the back of our high-quality refrigerator) are frozen solid and cracked from the frigid temperatures
-Between then and now...
*Slingshot (our hyper-active mutt) leaves dirty paw prints all over my freshly mopped floors
*Olivia is caught with a sheet of felt dots (the kind you put on the feet of your furniture) sticking them all over her naked body, dumps my purse, and begins throwing herself on the floor in a tantrum because I won't give her a peenubud and hunnnneee jojess (peanutbutter and honey sandwich)
*Strange smells begin to permeate the air around the kitchen and I find the disposal is leaking under the sink right into the dog food! Yuck!)
*Olivia wants to use the potty (no success this time, but it's a promising start!)
Not a bad morning all-in-all but man am I tired!

Curse Words at Kindergarten

Jared is on vacation this week so he took Luke to school this morning. While there something occured to cause him to "swear". In a burst of frustration Jared shouted, "Dang it!" (the outlawed D-word). Luke looked at his dad in shock and horror and stated, "Dad, we don't say that!" Jared appologized and in reply Luke stated, "I'm always watching out for you, Dad" with that big goofy smile that we love so much.
