10 Years Ago

Almost ten years ago I found out I had received a scholarship to attend AIU University in London. I can't stop thinking how that experience changed my life. Anyone who knows me know that I'm a chicken. ...and yet I got on an airplane by myself and flew for 13 hours where I then engaged a cab and proceeded to a "flat" where I lived with a bunch of girls I'd never met. I used the underground train (or tube) every day, often alone to get to class, and traded with foreign currency at small markets for groceries and clothing. I rode speed trains and ferries to visit other countries on the weekends...trading with even more foreign currency and findind my way around among foreign languages and strange customs. By myself! I am a big girl and I can do big things!
I've been working on putting my journal and pictures into an HM book so I can remind myself of that from time to time. That experience really helped me grow. ...and three weeks after I came home I met the greatest guy I've ever known! ...and married him!

Snow Day

The kids had a blast playing in the snow, making a snowman and snow angels. It took some coaxing but we finally got Luke to "taste" the snow. Once he finally decided to try the icy stuff we couldn't keep him out of it. Then, of course, the lecture on choosing which snow to eat ensued. We decided we like snow... In small amounts... When there is hot chocolate and a fire immediately following.

So Livi was having (another) melt down yesterday. Nothing out of the ordinary... just a lot of whining and crying, as usual. So, Heather says to her, "Livi, use your words." So Livi, still in a whiny tone says, "Cry! Cry!" hehe. She is something else.

Livi has a nudder mudder

Olivia has been calling my sister-in-law, Heather, Mudder. It's SO cute! I tried to correct her and tell her that I was her "Mudder" but she insisted that I was her Momma and she (Heather) was her Mudder. When she really focuses on her words it's "Aunt Hedder" but we like "Mudder". It's sweet.

New Tongue Twister!

This is Olivia's newest phrase. She can say it like a champ. Can you say it 10 times fast?
